Central America may occupy a relatively small area, but its diverse population and rich blend of cultures make it an outstanding destination. From world-class surfing to rainforests, wildlife and indigenous tribes like the Maya – you can experience it all here. Spanish and African influences abound in the region’s language, cuisine and architecture. Visitors can expect to explore anything from grand colonial plazas and cobbled streets, to Aztec remains and volcanoes.

Try your hand at surfing in Costa Rica, diving the ‘Blue Hole’ in Belize or swimming with whale sharks at Utila in Honduras – there are endless activities to keep you in the water. Also, don’t miss the stunning national park at the Isla de Coiba in Panama, where you’ll discover an array of whale and dolphin species. A world of adventure awaits you on your charter yacht holiday to this fascinating destination.

Central America is a region of North America that’s situated between the southern border of Mexico and the northwest border of Colombia, in South America. It spans an area of over 520,000 square kilometres and is made up of seven countries, including: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. Much of Central America is mountainous, and the area is home to a chain of volcanoes that line the Pacific coast. The climate features distinct wet and dry seasons; with rainfall varying dramatically according to time of year.

All of the region’s countries are generally hot and humid all-year-round, with daily highs of 27° Celsius. Central America’s hurricane season lasts from June to October. The region has richly diverse flora and fauna; its forests are highly populated with birds, insects and reptiles. Rainforest can also be found to the low-lying eastern part of the region. As a result of these factors, Central America is a fantastic destination for outdoor enthusiasts. With trekking opportunities, wildlife, beautiful islands and rainforest in abundance – who could want for more?
